Questions
The things worth asking first.
Including the ones with awkward answers.
Is this a trading signal service?
No, and it never will be. Tradeonomist gives no picks, no entries, no targets and no recommendations to buy or sell anything. It is an educational habit tool that scores your own behaviour. Nothing in it is financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
Will it make me a profitable trader?
It cannot promise that and does not try to. What it claims is narrower and testable: traders improve by showing up, learning deliberately, and keeping the rules they set — and all three can be measured without measuring money. If you want a tool that predicts returns, this is the wrong one.
Why does the score ignore my profit and loss?
Because P&L is mostly the market’s decision and only partly yours, and a score that rises on a lucky month teaches you that luck is skill. Win rate is in there at 25%, the smallest of three components. Nothing ranks anyone by profit, trade size or account value.
Do I have to connect a broker?
No. The whole daily loop works with nothing connected, and the free plan includes a manual log. Connecting one on Pro means trades arrive on their own and findings read from a fuller record — but a user who never connects gets a quieter product, not a worse one.
Is the broker connection safe?
It is read-only and made through SnapTrade. You enter credentials on your broker’s or SnapTrade’s screens — Tradeonomist never sees your username, password or two-factor codes, and cannot place, modify or cancel an order, or move money. There is a page on exactly this.
What happens to my data if I stop paying?
You drop to the free tier and keep everything already written — reflections, lessons read, discipline history, trades imported. Sync stops and the trade log returns to its free limit for new entries. Nothing is deleted for lapsing.
Who is it for?
Retail traders in Canada and the United States, from someone who has never placed a trade to someone with years of history. More precisely: the trader who has already read the books, already knows they should have honoured that stop, and has no system for actually doing it tomorrow.
Does my reflection get sent anywhere?
The text of a daily reflection is sent to a language model for one purpose — extracting the trades you described — and nothing else. Do not put passwords, account numbers or other people’s personal information in one. This is spelled out in the Privacy Policy rather than buried.
What if I miss a day?
One streak freeze a month on every plan including free, consumed automatically. Beyond that the streak resets — but your Practice Index, level and history do not. And a day you chose not to trade is not a miss: marking it completes the day.
Why is it called the Practice Index?
Because it measures your practice, which is the part you control. It was called the Edge Score until September 2026; an "edge" is an advantage, and implying the app confers one is exactly the promise it exists not to make.
Is it available yet?
Not yet. It is in development and has not been submitted to the App Store or Google Play. Write for early access and you will hear when it is.
Why "Tradeonomist"?
An economist studies a system by measuring it honestly, including when the measurements are unflattering. That is the posture the app takes toward your trading.
